FZ0199 - Private House

LM199 is a project to transform a single-family home built in the 1960s.

The intervention completely redefined the existing building, working from the inside to adapt its structure and layout to contemporary lifestyles.
The project involves the creation of two dwellings, reusing the ground floor that was once used as aware house.

The floor plan organises the spaces around two barycentric cores conceived as connecting areas: elements that link the different floors and, at the same time, “orchestrate” the horizontal distribution.
Around these cores, a continuous path develops — sometimes as corridor, sometimess as part of the rooms — enveloping and connecting the rooms. On the façade, a sequence of French windows emphasises its layout and movement.

In the residential environment in which it is located, the building appears as an abstraction, a “contemporary vessel” that gives a new identity to the existing construction in a consolidated context.
