DR1294 is the renovation project for an apartment located in the historic centre of Venice, inside a 16th-century building.
The intervention, conceived as an interior design project, respects the original three-cell plan layout with a central“portego”, enhancing the distribution of the space and the materiality of the rooms. A serie of custom-made elements in darkbrown coloured oak and stainless steel — the kitchen, the bookcase in the living room and the new staircase connecting the two levels — form the unifying theme of the project. The exposed wooden trusses dialogue with the warm materiality of the furnishings and the restored surfaces: the Venetian terrazzo floor, recovered and enhanced, and the new stucco wall finishing that amplify the light and continuity. The result is a domestic space that interprets the Venetian character of the original building in a contemporary key.
