Villa Romana di Appiano is a proposal to turn the archaeological ruins into a museum, designed to protect them, tell their history and create a new perspective on the landscape.

The project distinguishes the circular space of the wooden shell from the service areas and entrance volumes, preserving its identity: the shell becomes the architectural symbol of the excavations, visible even from the outside.

The public route is spread over two levels: a perimeter walkway along the shell, which offers an overview of the site, and an internal walkway through the excavations, which crosses the empty spaces of the villa, telling the history and functions of the different rooms. An accessible panoramic terrace completes the experience, allowing visitors to observe the ruins from outside, even when the exhibition space is closed.
